Notes on taxonomy.
Carol Linnaeus who used Greek and Latin name for organisms created the idea of Taxonomy.
He also created the system where we place all the organisms into large groups called kingdoms.
The groupings are:
A good way to remember the groupings:
" King Phillip Came Over For Good Spaghetti"
Binomial nomenclature- which means it is a 2 name system
Species- organisms that can interbreed with one another and produce fertile offspring
-Number of cells (unicelluar or multicelluar)
-How it obtains energy
-Type of cell (eukaryotes or prokaryote)
Kingdom Animalia
Kingdom Plantae

Kingdom Animalia
- Multicelluar
- Heterotropic
- Most can move
Kingdom Plantae
- multicellular
- autotrophic
- eukaryotic
- can not move (due to cell walls)
- multicellular
- heterotrophic
- eukaryotic Kingdom Eubacteria and Kingdom Archaebacteria
- Unicellular
- Can be autotrophic or heterotrophic
- rokaryotes (do not have a nucleus)
